Weight Management
Looking beyond calories to understand your body
Weight management isn't always as simple as eating less and moving more. There can be many reasons why your body is holding on to weight, and understanding what's happening beneath the surface can make all the difference.
Rather than starting with a restrictive diet, my approach is to investigate the factors that may be making weight management difficult for you.
What might we explore together?
- Blood sugar and insulin: Using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), where appropriate, to understand how your body responds to different foods, including glucose spikes and dips.
- Hormonal and metabolic health: Considering thyroid function, insulin resistance, menopause and other factors that may influence weight.
- Nutritional balance: Looking at protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, fibre and whether you're getting the nutrients your body needs.
- Eating patterns: Exploring meal timing, portion sizes, snacking and how your habits fit into everyday life.
- Gut health and inflammation: Investigating digestive symptoms, possible food intolerances and factors contributing to inflammation.
- Fluid retention: Exploring whether fluid balance may be affecting your weight and how you feel.
Taking GLP-1 medication?
If you're using weight-loss medication such as a GLP-1, nutritional support can be particularly valuable. We can focus on preserving muscle mass, meeting your protein and nutrient needs, managing digestive side effects and building sustainable habits.
A more personalised way forward
There is no single approach that works for everyone. Together, we'll explore what's getting in your way and develop a realistic plan that supports your metabolism, health and relationship with food — without unnecessary restriction.
